I love your wallpapers to death

If I may ask, what program(s) do you use? And how do you get that wood-type background? I've made a few wallpapers myself, but I don't really think they're any good.

I use Photoshop cs6. I basically just layer textures I find on google. I then play with the levels and change their colours to match what I want it to look like.
